Why Choose a Piedmont Italy Wedding

The vineyard hills of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato have been on the UNESCO World Heritage listing since 2014, as the “Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont”. It is wine country first: small towns, cellars and rows of Nebbiolo on every slope.

Food is a large part of the day. Piedmontese menus mean tajarin, agnolotti del plin, Barolo and Barbaresco, and white truffles in autumn.

The villages are small and the pace is slow. That makes the Langhe a good fit for an elopement or a small wedding in a quiet setting.

Note on the name: in the United States, “Piedmont” can mean Piedmont, California, or Piedmont Park in Atlanta. This page is about Piedmont, Italy, the region the Italians call Piemonte.

Where to Get Married in Piedmont

The Langhe and Barolo

The Langhe lie south of Alba and are home to Barolo and Barbaresco. All our Piedmont packages are set here, in historic Barolo wine cellars.

The cellar ceremony takes place underground, among oak barrels, so it does not depend on the weather. The vineyard walk and tastings follow above ground.

Monferrato

Monferrato, to the north-east, has softer hills, castles and wine estates. It is part of the same UNESCO site and can host larger weddings, with prices on request.

Roero

Roero sits across the Tanaro river from the Langhe, with sandy hills and white wines. It is a quieter area for a welcome dinner or a tasting with guests.

For other wine regions with venues and packages, see our page on vineyard weddings in Italy.

Legal or Symbolic Ceremony

The cellar ceremonies in our Barolo packages are led by a celebrant, so they are symbolic. You can complete the legal part at home, before or after the trip.
