A Cinque Terre wedding with Kiss Me Italy costs from €32,000 for 30 guests on the Gulf of Poets in Portovenere, and from €35,000 to €39,000 in Monterosso, at the Torre Aurora cliff tower or on the sea terraces of Hotel Porto Roca. An elopement for two starts at €3,300. The five villages belong to only three municipalities, so a legal civil ceremony takes place in one of three town halls (Monterosso, Vernazza or Riomaggiore), while the terraces, towers and harbours host symbolic ceremonies. Monterosso is the village for weddings with guests; Vernazza, Manarola and Corniglia are for photographs and elopements; Portovenere, just south, is the easiest place to host a larger group. Every price on this page is the price you pay.
This guide is what we explain to couples on the first call: which packages exist and what they include, where you can legally marry, how the villages really compare for a wedding, how guests arrive without cars, and when to come. For a line-by-line budget see our Cinque Terre wedding cost guide, and for venues across the whole coast our Cinque Terre wedding venues guide.

Where You Can Legally Get Married in Cinque Terre
The Cinque Terre are five villages but only three municipalities (comuni): Monterosso al Mare; Vernazza, which also administers Corniglia; and Riomaggiore, which also administers Manarola. A legally binding civil wedding is celebrated by one of these three comuni, in its town hall or in another place the municipality has officially designated. The municipal regulation of Riomaggiore, for example, lists the town hall with its council room and adjoining terrace, and the Castle of Riomaggiore, with fees that are higher for non-resident and non-EU couples and for Saturdays and holidays (Comune di Riomaggiore regulation). We confirm the current fee and availability for your date in writing before you book.
That is why most couples split the day in two: a short civil ceremony at the town hall, often with just the two of you and two witnesses, and a symbolic ceremony on a terrace, a tower or the harbour with all your guests, where you can write your own vows and choose any language. All our wedding packages include a symbolic ceremony; the civil part can be added and we guide you through the paperwork.
- Civil ceremony: legally valid in your home country once registered. Foreign couples need a Nulla Osta or its equivalent from their consulate; US citizens follow the steps in our guide to getting married in Italy as a US citizen.
- Religious ceremony: possible in the parish churches of the villages with the approval of your own parish and the diocese; see our guide to a Catholic wedding in Italy.
- Symbolic ceremony: no paperwork, any setting, any hour. Many couples marry legally at home first and celebrate here.
The Five Villages (and Portovenere) Compared for a Wedding
The villages look similar in photographs but behave very differently on a wedding day. What decides everything is space, access and where your guests can sleep.
| Village | Best for | Realistic guest count | Access | Our packages |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monterosso al Mare | Weddings with guests, beach and seafront | Up to 40 at the venues we use | Train; limited road access to the new town (Fegina) | Torre Aurora, Porto Roca |
| Vernazza | Elopements, photographs at the harbour and the Doria castle | Very small groups | Train; cars stop above the village | Photo sessions and symbolic ceremonies on request |
| Corniglia | Quiet photographs among vineyards | Couple only | Station below the village, then a long flight of steps or a shuttle bus | — |
| Manarola | The most famous view of the Cinque Terre, for portraits | Couple only | Train; very narrow lanes | — |
| Riomaggiore | Civil ceremony at the town hall or the castle, harbour portraits | Small groups | Train; limited parking at the top of the village | Civil ceremony on request |
| Portovenere (not one of the five, same UNESCO site) | Larger weddings, guests sleeping in one hotel | Up to 50 | Road access and ferries across the Gulf of Poets | Grand Hotel Portovenere, Torre Capitolare |
Monterosso al Mare
The largest of the five and the only one with long sandy beaches and a flat seafront, which is why it hosts most Cinque Terre weddings with guests. Hotels are within walking distance, so the whole party can walk home along the sea after dinner. Our Cliffside Wedding at Torre Aurora takes over a 16th-century watchtower on the rock between the old and new town, and the Iconic Seaside Wedding at Hotel Porto Roca uses the hotel’s terraces above the sea. More in our guide to a wedding in Monterosso.
Vernazza and Corniglia
Vernazza is the postcard harbour with the Doria castle above it, and one of the most photographed places in Italy; it is perfect for an elopement or for portraits, but it has no room for a reception with guests. Corniglia sits on a cliff high above the sea, without a harbour, and is the quietest of the five. See our guide to a wedding in Vernazza.
Manarola and Riomaggiore
Manarola gives the view everyone recognises, the pastel houses stacked above the rocks, and we use it for portraits early in the morning or at sunset. Riomaggiore has the castle and the town hall that the municipality uses for civil ceremonies, and a small harbour for photographs after the “I do”.
Portovenere and the Gulf of Poets
Portovenere is not one of the five villages, but it belongs to the same UNESCO World Heritage site and is only a boat ride away. It has something the Cinque Terre lack: road access and hotels large enough to host your whole group. That is why our Portovenere weddings go up to 50 guests, and why the Wedding Escape can include a room with breakfast for every guest. For two people, the medieval Torre Capitolare can be reserved exclusively for the ceremony. Read our guide to a wedding in Portovenere.

Getting Your Guests There: Trains, Boats and Luggage
The villages are almost car-free, and this shapes the whole day. The regional train on the La Spezia–Levanto line stops in all five villages a few minutes apart, and in season the tourist boats connect Portovenere, the villages and Levanto by sea. The nearest airports are Pisa and Genoa, both within about an hour and a half of La Spezia by car; Florence is a little further.
- Luggage: heavy suitcases and steep lanes do not mix. We arrange porters or luggage transfers to the hotels.
- Suppliers: flowers, sound and catering often arrive by boat or by hand from the nearest road, which is why timing is planned hour by hour.
- Guests with reduced mobility: Monterosso and Portovenere are the easiest; Corniglia and Manarola have many steps.
- Arriving by sea: a private boat along the coast is the most spectacular entrance of all; see our guide to a Cinque Terre wedding boat.
The Best Time of Year for a Cinque Terre Wedding
May, June and September are the months we recommend: warm light, a calm sea and villages that are lively but not overcrowded. July and August bring long evenings but also the highest number of visitors and the heat of the midday stairs. From November to March many hotels close and the boats stop, so weddings with guests are rare, while an elopement on a clear winter day can be magical. Month-by-month details are in our guide to the Cinque Terre wedding season.

What Couples Wrote After Their Day in the Cinque Terre
These are reviews left on the pages of our Cinque Terre and Portovenere packages, published as the couples wrote them.
We just wanted it to be the two of us, somewhere by the sea. When we stepped out onto the terrace in Monterosso, I remember looking at her and thinking, this is exactly why we came all this way. The ceremony felt like it was truly ours—no guests, no pressure, nothing to think about but each other. Thank you, Alessandra, for understanding exactly what we wanted.
Jason Estrada, Romantic Seaside Marriage — Porto Roca Elopement, September 2026
Jason
We visited the Cinque Terre together many years ago, when our life looked completely different. Coming back to renew our vows made it especially meaningful for us.
Iwan & Carys Bowen, Love Again by the Sea — Porto Roca, August 2026
This time, we had years of marriage behind us, the good times, the harder ones, and a whole life we’ve built together. Saying “I choose you” again after everything we’ve shared means something completely different.
It truly felt like an experience created just for us — intimate, emotional, and completely genuine. Exactly what we wanted.
why wait? We wanted something that belonged to just the two of us. When we got to the top of the tower and saw the sea, we looked at each other and just started laughing because we were so emotional. Having dinner alone in the tower after the ceremony might have been my favorite part. For one night, that place was all ours. Thank you.

Cinque Terre Wedding FAQ
How much does a Cinque Terre wedding cost?
With Kiss Me Italy a Cinque Terre wedding costs from €32,000 for 30 guests in Portovenere, €35,000 for 30 guests at Torre Aurora in Monterosso and €39,000 for 40 guests at Hotel Porto Roca. An elopement for two starts at €3,300. Florals, photographer, videomaker, DJ, planner and Concierge are included.
Can you legally get married in Cinque Terre?
Yes. The five villages belong to three municipalities, Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza and Riomaggiore, and each celebrates civil weddings in its town hall or in places it has designated, such as the Castle of Riomaggiore. Foreign couples need the documents from their consulate; we guide you through them.
Where is the best place to get married in Cinque Terre?
Monterosso al Mare for a wedding with guests, because it has space, beaches and hotels within walking distance. Vernazza and Manarola are best for an elopement or photographs. For more than 40 guests, Portovenere on the Gulf of Poets is the easiest choice.
How many guests can a Cinque Terre wedding have?
Our Monterosso venues host 30 to 40 guests and the Grand Hotel Portovenere up to 50. For larger weddings we suggest a villa or a castle on the wider Italian Riviera, 40 to 70 minutes away.
Can we elope in Cinque Terre?
Yes. Our Porto Roca elopement in Monterosso is €3,300 for two, and the private Torre Capitolare in Portovenere is €3,600, or €4,500 with a private boat on the Gulf of Poets. Each includes a symbolic ceremony with celebrant, the Red Ribbon Ritual, bouquet and photographer.
Do you offer all-inclusive Cinque Terre wedding packages?
Yes. Each wedding package has a fixed published price that includes the venue, aperitivo, wedding lunch or dinner, cake, florals, photographer, videomaker, DJ, a dedicated planner and our Concierge. The Portovenere Wedding Escape also includes a room with breakfast for every guest.
How do guests get to the Cinque Terre?
By train on the La Spezia–Levanto line, which stops in all five villages, or by boat in season. The nearest airports are Pisa and Genoa. The villages are almost car-free, so we arrange luggage transfers and plan the timetable of the day around trains and boats.
When is the best time to get married in Cinque Terre?
May, June and September, for warm light, a calm sea and fewer visitors than in July and August. From November to March many hotels close and boats stop, so winter works better for an elopement than for a wedding with guests.
Can we renew our vows in Cinque Terre?
Yes. Our vow renewal on the sea terrace of Hotel Porto Roca in Monterosso is €3,300 for two, and on the Torre Capitolare in Portovenere it is €3,600, or €4,500 with a private boat tour.
Do we need a wedding planner for a Cinque Terre wedding?
For a wedding with guests, yes: trains, boats, steep lanes and supplier access all have to be planned together, often hour by hour. For an elopement a planner saves you the permits, the celebrant and the timing of the light. All our packages include a dedicated planner.
