The bridge itself is an enclosed stone passage inside the Doge’s Palace, so nobody can stand on it: the classic proposal happens with the bridge behind you, from Ponte della Paglia on the waterfront or from the quieter Ponte della Canonica on the other side. If you dream of passing beneath it by gondola, we can add a private gondola on request.
