The Experience
The Abbazia di San Fruttuoso sits in a hidden cove between Portofino and Camogli, enclosed by the cliffs of the Parco Naturale di Portofino and open only to the sea and mountain paths. Your private boat leaves Portofino harbour and follows the promontory past cliffs, sea caves and coves where the Ligurian water turns emerald. Then the abbey appears at the back of its cove: medieval stone, sea-facing arches and the silence of a place protected by the landscape around it. Your symbolic ceremony is performed on the terrace with three rituals and the Mediterranean as witness. Photography continues among the abbey’s stone details, garden corners and sea views before lunch by the water. Later, the boat returns you to Portofino for Castello Brown and an aperitivo in La Piazzetta.
